11-17-04 had a car accident and was taken to Hill Regional by ambulance. Severe back pain. Taken to a room then to x-ray. On a gurney in x-ray the young incompetent female told me to get up and change my clothes to a gown as she took off the C-collar. Yes before any x-rays were taken. I tried to get up but the pain was horrible. I kept telling her I couldn't do it and she just said let me know when you are changed. Long n short I finally got changed. X-ray revealed a T-11 compression fracture. Although bad her actions or lack there of could have been life threatening.
TWO issues. The second one prompted me to write about both.
They got me in quickly. Staff was very friendly. Pleasant experience considering the circumstances.
Today a dear friend of mine was taken to Hill Reg by his wife to be checked for possible staph on his feet. He has liver cancer and has been given about 6 months to live. That is why the staph issue is so critical. They call me hours later to say they never saw a Dr. or anyone other than the desk check-in lady. After 2 hours his daughter had arrived and explained his medical situation and the importance of this being checked. That info was relayed to the nurses/doctor(s) but nothing happened. Over 30 minutes later he was in pain and had to leave. As he was trying to leave other patients waiting to see a Dr started telling the desk to take him first and in front of them as they personally knew this man. This dying pillar of the community for 40 years as a Police Officer and Deputy Sheriff. NOTHING done. "We don't work that way" Tomorrow to a Waco hospital as he was too tired to travel today. Just a worthless excuse of a medical facility.
My father has had only good experiences during several stays at this hospital. Top-notch doctors and nurses who genuinely care about their patients.
I also had foot surgery and physical therapy at Hill Regional Hospital. Both of these experiences were wonderful! I received the best care from all these departments.
It was pretty bad! Lee, Sarah, and the other respiratory lady were wonderful! High five to you ladies! But as far the doctor, I've seen him twice now. Once with a "mysterious stomach virus" which was never officially diagnosed, in which he told me "Your gallbladder looks good"... I do not own a gallbladder as of the age of 14. So, that kind of tripped me out. Second time I saw him was a week ago, and he said I have bronchitis. No big deal, besides the fact I stated to him MULTIPLE times that the bottom of my throat felt like it was closing, still does, but gave me a breathing treatment, and sent me on my way. No shots, nothing besides a prescription for steroids, and an inhaler. Did not bother to check my white blood cell count for infection, touch my throat to feel for inflammation, nothing. I literally saw him for 3 minutes in the course of a 3 hour period. To this day Im still having troubles breathing, eating swallowing just saliva, etc. He isn't doing his job very well. I love the nurses, and other people but he just comes in for a couple of minutes, doesn't hear anything you say, and then has the magical diagnoses off of basically nothing. Worst ER I've ever experienced! Waste of my time, and money!
I am new to the area and have selected a primary care physician at Hill Regional Hospital, Dr. Marshall. I am very pleased with his care and the time he takes to listen and work with you as a partner for your health.
